Cheap and Easy House Cleaning Tips Can Save You Time and Money

I don’t know about you, but it feels like the list of things that have to be done keep adding up but the time remains the same. House cleaning is not something I want to spend a lot of time on, but I love a good deep thorough cleaning of my house. Having a dog, two kids and a husband can make house cleaning a real challenge. I have found that the following tips are not only shortcuts to cleaning, but accomplish more complete dirt free results than your average wipe down. I hope you find these tips helpful.

Cleaning out the fridge

I hate having to pull out the drawers in the fridge and having to wash them in the sink with soapy water. Instead of going through all of that effort, I pull out the vacuum cleaner with my hose attachment on it and suction out all of the vegetable drawers with the potato dust and onion skins. Afterwards, I wipe down everything with the ever popular Lysol wipes. Instead of buying the name brand I go to Walgreen’s and buy the much cheaper generic brand. You get 75 wipes for about $3.00 which is of half the price.

Deep cleaning

I never realized before, how much dust and dirt the vacuum cleaner misses. Lint rollers or sticky tape rollers as we call them in my house, is my best friend. Run them over your accent pillows, couch pillows, your sofa, love seat and chairs. I have found even more creative uses for them. I hate dragging the vacuum cleaner up and down the steps to do the stairs. Now I just sticky roller them. They are great in the cracks and crevices and a heck of a lot lighter in weight to carry. Try them in tight areas like under the nightstand in the bedroom, and even use them on your drapery.

Cleaning grout

Try old toothbrushes for getting in those tight corners. Toothbrushes are also great for stains on clothes. I also use them on my sinks and bathtubs.

Easy cleaning for the shower and tub

Dish liquid works great on the shower walls and the inside of your tubs. The soap attracts the hard to scrub soap scum like a magnet. It will amaze you! I use the antibacterial variety.

Freshen the toilets and bathroom sink: Again, I use the scented dish liquid. The apple scented is my favorite. Scrub the toilet and sink with just about two tablespoons in each. Leave set for 5 to 10 minutes. You will be amazed at the difference it makes.

Freshen the smell of the whole house

The original product is febreeze but you can get it in the generic brand for a third of the cost at any dollar store. Spray your mattress, linens, drapes, carpet, the inside of your purse and even your car and it is wonderful for smelly tennis shoes. What a difference it makes.

Try saving time and money by using these simple tips and you will be glad that you did.
